What is College View High School?
Description of Program:
College View HS provides a smaller high school environment for students wanting to concentrate on academics and not necessarily wanting a full extracurricular menu. It allows students more autonomy and smaller classes and emphasizes positive relationships between students and staff to help facilitate the success of all students.
College View High School allows students to obtain up to 42 college credits from Blinn College, ensuring them a positive start to their college careers. Dual credit courses are offered in English, Math, History, Arts Appreciation, and Psychology.
College View High School allows students to explore their creative side with an innovative, personalized, project-based art program which allows a student to conceive an idea and bring it to life, whether it be graphic design, painting, sculpture, photography, animation, etc.
College View High School offers opportunities for students to be involved in clubs, ranging from creative to outdoor adventure to Student Council to music.
College View High School offers more non-traditional instruction, including an emphasis on blended instruction, project-based learning, and flipped instruction.
New course offerings for the 2018-2019 school year include Animation II, Game Design, Varsity Choir, Forensic Art and Forensic Science.
The TEEX Fire School Academy will be offered starting with the 2018-2019 school year. Students may begin this program in their freshman year. At the end of their senior year, they will be completed with all of their classwork and will be eligible to enroll in the 21 day boot camp at Brayton Fire Training Field. Students completing the boot camp would then take their certification test through the Texas Commisson on Fire Protection or the ProBoard (for national certification). They would also have training as an Emergency Medical Responder.
