What does DUAL CREDIT cost?
Students are required to pay tuition for the dual credit courses. Most courses will cost $318 per semester class. (This is a price break from regular Blinn tuition of $474 per course). However, we are working to provide our own teacher for the Psychology class. If this occurs, then the Psychology class would only cost $42 for the semester class.
CVHS is working to develop scholarships for students who cannot afford the entire cost of the tuition.
Important Dates and Deadlines:
May 20, 2017 – Applications, approval forms and transcripts due
June 3, 2017 – TSI Assessment, at College View High School – 9:00 am
June 30, 2017 – all test scores due
Classes must be paid for by the deadline set by Blinn College.
Parents: Once a student takes a college course, parents do not have access to their child’s records unless a FERPA Release waiver is signed and on file with the college.
Students: Once your application is submitted, you will need to check your email within 48 hours for your MyBlinn account. You may need to check your Spam or Junk mail folder if you do not find it in your incoming mail folder.
TSIA – Texas Success Initiative Assessment
Each student applying for Dual Credit must prove they are college ready by either having required scores on the ACT/SAT/PSAT or the TSIA. Students may use the STAAR EOC English II and Algebra I scores for dual credit. Please see the sheet titled “Test Scores for Dual Credit” for the scores needed.
If a student does not qualify for dual credit on their SAT/ACT/PSAT/EOC scores, then they are required to take the TSIA. College View HS is a TSI test center. There is no cost for CVHS students to take the test on our campus. Our testing date is May 13. However, if you cannot make that date, you may also take the test at the Blinn Campus, but there will be a $45 cost. You would need to contact Blinn College for test dates.
Before a student can take the TSIA, they must take the Pre-Assessment Activity and print the certificate of completion. Please allow at least an hour to take the Pre-Assessment Activity. The Pre-Assessment Activity link is https://www.tsipreview.com/welcome/CollegeViewHS
Once the Certificate of Completion of the PAA is turned into Ms. Rath, you will be registered for the TSIA on May 13 at 9:00 am.
